The scanner lid takes up the majority of the top of this printer. You lift it for revealing the scanner platen. At its left, there’s a control panel that comes with buttons allowing you to switch between plain letter-size paper as well as 4×6 photo paper. There’s one paper tray only. Therefore, you need to swap in photo paper when printing out photos. You push the 4×6 photo paper into the paper tray. However, the ridge makes it hard to remove extra sheets.

Print Speed

This printer is not a speed demon at printing text. It is rated at 6.4 ppm. It takes about 47 seconds to print a 5-page document. Its Quiet Mode slows text printing a little. This machine typically prints a single page of text in around 15.5 seconds. Then, it takes 23.2 seconds.

For duplex printing, it is significantly slower compared to HP Envy 5540 as it takes more than 2x the time to print a 5-page text document. By contrast, this model is quick at printing graphics on plain paper as it prints a 6-page text-n-graphics document in 2 minutes & 24 seconds (2.5 ppm).

Print Quality

Using dye & pigment inks, this printer can deliver more vibrant color and produces sharper & heavier text. For graphics, colors look rich, dark shades look bold, and text is amply sharp. Besides, Canon PIXMA MG3620 also prints vibrant colors & sharp details.
