Canon imageCLASS MF217w belongs to the cheapest laser 4-in-1 printer available today. However, it turns in some of the fastest print, and copy times while delivering high image quality. Design

To control this printer without a computer, you can use its 6-line mono touchscreen front panel. Physical buttons are not available for the copy & scan functions. There are only Home & Back. You will find a 10-key pad. However, up/down and OK buttons for making menu selections are not found.

Its Quiet Mode button should be appreciated. This feature can lower the noise level while printing. Besides that, this feature can also slow printing slightly.

There’s also a 35-sheet ADF that lifts up to reveal the scanner platen. Then, the hinges can support the weight of the lid at 45 degrees. You’ll find an output tray below the scanner platen. At full extension, it will not be good for a high-traffic area as it can be prone to breaking.

MF217w delivers the fastest copy speeds. It can copy a page in 8.7 seconds. This is faster compared to most other models. For photos, its speed slows down to 13.2 seconds.

This machine scans a color photo to JPEG at 600 dpi in 28 seconds. This is 10 seconds faster compared to the category average. Scanning to PDF in black-n-white is also fast. It makes a scan in 6.7 seconds (9 ppm). This is faster compared to the average of 11.2 seconds.
